Palovit Waterfall: follow the sound of the valley

How to reach Palovit Waterfall, how long to allow and how to pair it with Zilkale on a Çamlıhemşin itinerary.

Inside Kaçkar Mountains National Park, Palovit is one of Rize’s most powerful waterfalls. Water drops about 15 metres through dense forest, making even a short visit memorable.

The road to Palovit

The route branches from the Çamlıhemşin–Çat road and follows the Şenyuva and Zilkale line. Conditions on the final stretch can change with the season and rainfall.

Rocky, wet ground around the waterfall requires care at the viewing points.

The best way to visit

Rather than treating the waterfall as a quick checklist stop, plan a full nature day with Zilkale and the valley’s stone bridges.

The water grows stronger after heavy rain. Stay within the safe viewing areas while taking photographs.

Practical notes

Before you set out

  • Protect phones and cameras from spray.
  • Bring shoes with good grip and a rain jacket.
  • Check road conditions on the day of travel.
